Office Entry Cabinet

Since the onset of the Pandemic, many have been fortunate enough to work from home. This shift the world experienced so unexpectedly brought with it heartache for some but served as the silver lining in the clouds of others. Many were forced to spend more -- well needed-- time with their families. Companies were pushed to explore the productivity of their employees in spaces outside of the normal office environments.

This change caused a massive amount of interest in home offices. Whether it was making efficient use of a small corner or a larger area such as a dining room, the need for home offices re-emerged with a bang in the interior design world.

As for us, many of you know we moved across country recently and with that change came a need to reimagine a space I could use as my work from home space. While our last home was designed with a home office, the home we moved to was not. Because of this, I made great use of a small unused bedroom by creating a home office that lends relaxing, chic, and affordable luxe vibes. We mixed high and low end pieces and sprinkled a few sentimental favorites throughout the space.

While there may be one small faux floral arrangement in the space, it was a must that live florals and greenery be added as well

In this office, the main goal was to create a highly functional space that felt comfortable enough to spend a minimum of 8 hours in a day. Not only for time but to also feel lively and productive while in there. By mixing high and low end pieces, we achieved this by bringing in ample amounts of storage to house and hide the clutter. With the inexpensive open shelving, many of the home decor pieces not being used currently throughout the home are able to be stored neatly in the cubes. The other shelving unit comes with a higher price point but still affordable for those whose budget will allow them to explore.

While the initial idea was to splurge on an office desk, I decided to save that splurge for a later date and opted for something less expensive. I searched for a desk that would be incredibly easy on the pockets but would also provide ample space to sit my computers on while have enough writing space. To say I hit it out of the park with this find would be an understatement! Instead of purchasing a typical office desk, I decided to bring in a small, great -- for office -- kitchen table. After all, the look of it felt casually chic with clean lines and the color of black oak made it feel luxe. Coming in at just $150 at the time of purchase, this table provides great space for this highly functioning office. I was even able to add a Flexispot desk riser to one side which gives the option to stand or sit while working.

Illusion Of A Larger Space

Great things to keep in mind should you press forward with setting up a home office are great storage to house unsightly papers, etc., great lighting, comfortable seating and a great desk.

Statement lighting was added to quickly draw the eyes up in the small space.

Removal of Closet Door
View From Open Closet Turned Small Room

I removed the door from the small walk-in closet, gave it a fresh coat of a cloudy white paint color, and brought in some inexpensive cubed shelving. The goal was to open up the feel of the space yet still allow for great storage.

I had so much fun with the accessories. From the sentimental items to the fun reflective pieces and live foliage, the accessories are a great way to give your space its unique identity tailored to you.

Coffee Table Books

A collection of coffee table books being stored in the cubed shelf until they are going to be used again.

Drink Tray

Offering reflective surfaces, a small drink set-up on a lazy susan glam tray and a photo of our oldest daughter gives visual interest to the entry.

Real touch faux flowers adorn a gorgeous textured white, round vase

Real touch faux flowers adorn a shelf inside the Hayes storage cabinet for an elegant look. A little eggshell hand painted by our daughter sits next to it and adds a fun and sweet touch to the space.

Real Roses

It is nice to always keep a live bouquet of flowers somewhere in the office. They add a nice touch to the space and if you pick them right, they will have the office smellin amazing!

Collection of Mirrors

If you are working with a small space a great way to add dimension and the illusion of more space -yes you've heard this MANY times- is to add a few mirrors.
